Well, its my first interview in this journey. UNC requires every applicant to interview prior to the deadline.
I had this on 26th Oct over telephone with a elder gentleman 'Buck Williams". He is a businessman in the Chapel hill region and is assisting UNC with admission interviews. I must say, this was not really an interview but an conversation. It started 10 min late because of the confusion over the phone number they were suppose to call at ( I gave them a new number in the 11th hour and interviewer wasn't aware of it !). Those 10 min really built up lot of pressure. Anyways, the interview went fine with some general questions :
1) Walk through your resume.
2) Some general questions regarding the information mentioned on the resume.
3) Why UNC ?
4) About my family.
5) Interest outside work
6) What India needs to improve in the coming decades. "This one i like the most"
7) He was interested in the share market and was enquiring about the Sensex movement the previous day. I gave a wrong answer here. I am so foolish.
8) My reading habits?
9) Enquired whether i have any questions. I ask about the STAR program, his opinion about UNC and the international student loan program.
My interview concluded in about 21 minutes. Generally it goes on for about 30 min but in my case i have lost 10 minutes in intital confusion. But at the end of it, it sounded satisfactor. Lets wait and watch for the big day 10th Dec.
I submitted my application the same day after the interview....Deadline for R1.
But i am seriously getting curious about the Cornell-Johnson application. I still haven't heard from them for interview and with each passing day my fear is rising.
